Truck

  • Keys should be in Bob’s desk in front of the left top drawer.
  • Check the water and oil in the engine before starting.
  • Turn on the master switch on the floor behind the driver’s seat
  • If it does not start and run immediately, open the needle valve on the injection pump (top of motor toward the front and a little off center toward the passenger side). Then pump the priming pump on the driver’s side of the engine towards the front. First time you are around the truck, before you need to do this, have someone show you where these are.
  • Check the air in all of the tires. The back ones have special gauges that allow you to fill both duals simultaneously and show you a yellow band with a black line in the middle when the pressure is correct. The fronts should have 90 PSI and will have to be checked with a gauge. There should be a gauge in Bob’s desk, upper LH drawer. You can run a hose from the dental compressors to fill the tires. (The hose is in the equipment room)
  • Clean the windshield and mirrors.
  • Check all lights and turn signals to make sure they are working.
  • Stick the diesel tank, if it has less than ½, get some money from Gloria and fill it up. Make sure and get a receipt. Alternately, use your credit card and turn in the receipt to Gloria.
  • Load the truck with the carts towards the front. Put the telescoping rods in place to keep them from moving. Use these rods and straps as needed to secure the load.
  • After dropping off the supplies at the hospital, find a parking place close by, lock up the truck and leave it.
  • After picking up all the supplies and returning the truck, unload all of the meds and all of the dirty laundry. Put the meds by Bob’s desk in the stockroom and the dirty laundry in the sterilization room.
